As a mezzo, Ms. Gettler spent several seasons with the opera companies of Heidelberg and Mannheim before embarking on an American career.

Her mezzo appearances have included more than forty leading roles with performances in major opera houses and concert halls in the USA and Europe, as well as her native Australia. Of her London recital, accompanied by Geoffrey Parsons, Music and Musicians had “no hesitation in hailing Rachel Gettler’s as the most exciting voice to have come my way... the Wagner Wesendonck Lieder equal to the best Baker, Ludwig and Jessye Norman have given us”.
